Saturday
We slept in late this morning. Actually, we got up for a while and then went back to bed. I’d been working hard all week and I had to work more today but I needed some rest. We finally got up and showered sometime around 11 AM. Around noon I started to work. Kelly headed off [...]
Happy birthday, mabfan
A HAPPY BIRTHDAY shout-out to mabfan this morning, who for those who don’t know him, writes science fiction like a modern-day Isaac Asimov (if slightly less prolific). Hope you have a great day!
Thursday writing
I finished the second draft of "Depression Baby". It took me 90 minutes to rewrite the last 660 words or so. The story now stands at 6,200 words, longer than I was intending, but I think it works. I’ve got some cleanup to do, but I think I might be able to get it out in the mail [...]
Workout #17 (Lower body)
Up at 3:50 after a strange dream where I watched a guy walk into the propeller of a small airplane. Made scrambled eggs for breakfast and then sat down to read for about 40 minutes. I headed to the gym at 4:50. I was the only one there for the first 20 minutes or so, [...]
Workout #16 (Cardio)
Since I didn’t go to the gym this morning, I headed there as soon as we got home from work, knowing that I’d be too lazy to go if I waited until after dinner. I did 40 minutes of cardio on the elliptical. I upped the level to 3 this time. And I kept a pretty good rate going throughout [...]
Time dilation
My 9 hour workday seemed to pass by in 15 minutes or so. I continued my work on the PowerPoint slide deck for the training session I’m leading in mid-March. I started as soon as I got into the office, worked on it nonstop until lunchtime. I paused at lunch to eat, read more of Steal Across [...]
Wednesday writing
I just added another 400 words or so to "Depression Baby". Half of that was in a scene added to the beginning of the story which I think better sets up part of the conflict in the story (and thanks go out to mabfan for his suggestions on that point). The rest was scatterings throughout the story to tie in [...]
No gym this morning
I made chicken marsala and rice pilaf for dinner and both came out good. I may have slightly overcooked the rice, but it was the first time in my life that I ever made rice and I thought it tasted really good. There were some leftovers which Kelly is taking for her lunch today. No writing last night. [...]
Happy birthday to danmeg
A big HAPPY BIRTHDAY shout out to danmeg , who is even older than I am today. I hope you have a great birthday. Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.
I hate when this happens
I get up early like a Good Boy. I eat and rush off to the gym. I get in a full workout despite a lack of water. I head into the office and put in a long, busy morning of intensive work. Finally, lunch arrives! I’ve been looking forward to lunch all day since I can start [...]
Workout #15 (Chest/back)
After an internal battle of will that lasted about 15 minutes (but in my head seemed to last an eternity, I finally pulled myself out of bed at about ten minutes to 4, headed downstairs and cooked scrambled eggs for breakfast. Then I settled down to read for 45 minutes, nearly finishing Fred Pohl’s The Way the [...]
Good meals
I’m sequestering myself in the office this week in order to complete some training material for a 3-day train-the-trainer session I’ll be leading in mid-March. I started the work morning off by putting together my annual self-appraisal. With the exception of one meeting, I spent the rest of the day working on the training stuff, and [...]
