10 of My Favorite Going Paperless Posts

Since I’ve given up the regular schedule of posting my Going Paperless posts1 I thought it might be interesting to go through the 120+ posts I’d written and choose my 10 personal favorites. These are the posts that I had the most fun writing and that I also think are among the better posts I’ve written, both in terms of quality and subject matter. Your mileage may vary.   1. Jamie — I love you man!!! 🙂 Your posts on paperless living with Evernote are the absolute best! I think I have ALL your paperless posts saved to Instapaper for reading on my Kindle. You’ve really helped me (re)organize and refine my Evernote notebooks, tags, and processes.

    You did a great job picking the top 10 posts here. I think those are pretty much all of my favorites so far.

    I’m curious about something… There was another post about how you re-organized all your tags. In the final result, you had “kia”, “honda”, and “vehicle”. What is vehicle for if you already have your two vehicles covered? 🙂

  2. Dave, thanks! I use the “vehicle” tag as a shortcut for all vehicles, rather than having to search for tags containing both. It is a kind of parent grouping for anything with a specific model tag. So all vehicle related documents get at least 2 tags: the model (“kia”) and “vehicle”. If I want to search for documents related to the Kia, I search for tag:kia. If I need to find all vehicle related documents, however, I can do the following shortcut:

    tag:vehicle created:year-1

    The above will get me all notes tagged “vehicle” (Kia and Honda) created in the last year.

  3. Ah, that’s makes sense! I’m using tag stacks the same way. So I might have VEHICLE, and then under that have kia, and honda. I’ve made my tag stacks all uppercase so they stand out.
