30 day song challenge, day 1: your favorite song

Reading my friend Eric‘s posts on Facebook for the 30 day song challenge decided me to be a copycat and attempt this as well. Day 1 is “your favorite song” and of course, this is difficult when you enjoy a wide variety of musical styles. Favorite what? Rock? Metal? Punk? 80s? 40s? I suppose they mean your favorite all-time. But anyone older than 18 knows there really isn’t one favorite. That said, in keeping with the rules and trying to get off on the right foot, I’ll go with…

Hysteria by Def Leppard.

I’m talking about the title track of the blockbuster album of 1987. Whenever I hear this song, it reminds me of all of the good times I had in high school with a group of people who to this day are among my best friends. (In fact, we are having a mini-reunion Thursday night in L.A.) If I had to pick one favorite, that would be it.

  1. What a tough tough tough decision to make. I think for right now, mine would still be Lola by the Kinks, it was just so unexpected.

  2. Thanks, Libby, that song will be in my head all night now. (“I met her in a club down in old Soho…”) Wait until you see the logic for my least favorite song, tomorrow morning, 9am sharp.
