What a great dinner!

After a very long day of travel and work, I met my friend Neil for dinner.  He picked me up at my hotel and we headed to Ocean Avenue Seafood.  Neil and I went to junior high school together, but haven’t seen each other, or had any contact in nearly 22 years.  We got back in touch on Facebook and when I scheduled my trip to Santa Monica, I made it a point of getting back in touch with him.

Dinner was terrific.  We spent two hours catching up on what has gone on in our lives these last 22 years.  In many ways, it was like the years melted away.  There was no awkwardness, we just dove right in, catching each other up, talking, remembering our days at Porter Junior High School (now Porter Middle School), talking about our jobs and families.  It really was one of the best dinners I’ve had in a long time and I am so glad that Neil was kind enough to make the ride over the hill to meet me.  I look forward to seeing him again the next time he is in L.A.–or if he and his family ever make the trip to the Washington, D.C. area.
