No midnight oil

I was so exhausted last night that when I went to take a nap at about 8 PM, I didn’t get back up. I was supposed to get up at 10 PM, but at 10, I decided I needed more sleep. I told Kelly I’d get up at 3 AM. At 1:30 AM, I was still tired and reset my alarm. I finally got up at 7 AM and was into work around 8 AM.

I worked long, fast and hard. I had made good progress by just after lunch and I knew I wouldn’t need an all-nighter tonight. I left the office at 4 PM feeling pretty good. I was home by 5 PM and put in 5 more hours. At this point, the application is finally on the production servers and the only tasks remaining are trivial ones that can be taken care of tomorrow morning. Between yesterday and today alone I put in 24 hours. Monday and Tuesday were also long days. This will be a close-to-sixty-hour week.

I’m not quite ready to go to sleep yet. I’m going to pop in an episode of The Shield in order to unwind a bit.

The most disappointing thing about today is that I was hoping to have Our Oriental Heritage finished. But between yesterday and today, I did very little reading. I still have about 50 pages to go.
