Lunchtime writing

At lunch today (after eating my homemade peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and an orange), I got started on the story I referred to earlier, the latest incarnation of an idea I’ve had for a while, which I’m calling “If By Reason of Strength”.

I went back to my notes from the writing workshop on the “hook” I wrote. Almost unanimously, it was suggested that I move the “hook” line up to the beginning so that it seemed less of an afterthought. I did that, and then typed in the rest of the 100 word passage. I then kept going, a bit slowly, but with a lot of thought into where the story was going. When lunch was over I had completed 660 words, the entire opening scene of the story. I feel pretty good about it thus far.
