North River

I caught Pete Hamill on Real Time with Bill Mahr last night. Pete Hamill’s book, Forever is on my short list of all-time favorite books. If you’ve never read it before, it is amazing, and I highly recommend it.

On the show they mentioned Hamill’s new novel, North River, which I have just picked up at the bookstore across the street and which I am eagerly looking to start at lunch time today. I’m about halfway through Alan Alda’s new book, but I’ve been stalled for a while, and by my own rules, I should have given up on it a week ago. This is not because the book is bad, simply because my reading mood has changed and Pete Hamill’s new book strikes up the perfect reading hunger in my gut.
