Spelling and last words

I came across this gem in mental_floss this morning:

Upon being handed his official death sentence by French revolutionaries, Thomas de Mahy (the Marquis de Favras) cooly stated, “I see that you have made three spelling mistakes.”

For some reason, it made me think of strausmouse.
